Passion fruits originate in Brazil and come in several varieties and a range of colors from deep purple to green or yellow. The most popular are the deep purple passion fruit (Gulupa) to yellow (maracuya) and yellow-orange (granadilla). Passion fruits are typically smaller than their cousin the granadilla and differ in several other ways. The granadilla has a significantly harder shell with a jelly-like flesh inside that is bursting with edible seeds and a slightly sweeter taste while passion fruits are slightly smaller with edible black seeds and soft, yellow pulp.

Both are refreshing, delicious, and rich in nutrients like vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, iron. Best of all, they are reported to help boost the immune system, support kidney health and calm the nerves.
Passion fruits pack a nutritional punch, containing vitamin C, vitamin A, and other antioxidants, fiber, calcium, potassium, iron magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and folate. They are known to support your kidneys, nerves, muscles, and heart while lowering inflammation and supporting your immune system.

One delicious spoonful of passion fruit and you’ll soon discover why this nutritious treat is so popular around the world.
Granadillas, also known as sweet granadilla or grenadia, are small to medium fruits averaging 6 to 8 centimeters in length and 3 to 5 centimeters in diameter and are part of the passion fruit family. These yellow beauties are full of flavor and have quickly gained in popularity thanks to their sweet, tropical taste making them the perfect addition to cocktails and desserts.

The rind of the Granadilla is smooth, firm, and thick and starts out green when young and matures to an orange-yellow hue upon maturity which remains smooth when ripe. Inside the Granadilla is a delicious, gelatinous translucent pulp with small, flat edible black seeds which provide a crunchy consistency. Savor Granadillas bright, sweet, and tangy, fruity flavor with pleasant tropical and floral undertones and subtle, nutty notes from the crunch seeds
